Any ISP that alienates the customers of other ISPs and in turn, the other ISPs, is not going to be rolling in dough for long. People pay for *connectivity* and if Altopia will do what it has to to protect it. I know that's not what it says on Altopia's AUP.
Just a point of information. The meowers don't bother me. I think they are funny as hell. I'm not even all that bothered by HFW, I just don't think they are as funny. Hipcrime on the other hand, wherever it's coming from, does bother me.
But what really bothers me is to read complaints about Altopia's decision to change its AUP as if it's some unforgiveable, rephrehensible act. Usenet is not fair and it's not really free, but it's still better than the alternative.
