Fiat Lux

by Ed Deak

I never made a secret of my dislike of most politicians, economists and generally of people in powerful positions. The temptation for total corruption by power is too big and the suffering world has always been governed by lying, cheating and stupid power elites.

Looking at the tabloid headlines while waiting to check out at the supermarket brings back a lot of memories of fortune tellers predicting a nazi victory and the saturation propaganda of the communists prophesying the golden age of global prosperity for the working class. Now the same words and promises are being repeated by the capitalists in our controlled and censored media in praise of the Holy War against the terrorists.
However, unlike during the Vietnam and Afghan wars, the cracks in the propaganda machine are beginning to show with some uncensored and very uncomplimentary information already spreading across the globe from very reliable sources. The US have opened up a can of worms that all their missiles and bombers won't be able to close. It would be far too obscene to speculate that the terrorist crimes may have had the blessings of the US government, but they were fast of the line to make the best of them.

In a January 15-21, 1998 interview in the French paper Le Nouvel Observateur Jimmy Carter's Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski openly stated that the US government had a big role in the destabilization of the Afghan government in the 70s, goading on the Soviet invasion.

Brzezinski : "According to the official version of history, CIA aid to the Mujahadeen began during 1980, that is to say, after the Soviets invaded Afghanistan on 24 Dec. 1979. But the reality, secretly guarded until now, is completely otherwise. It was July 3.1979 that President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul. And on that very day, I wrote a note to the president in which I explained that in my opinion this aid was going to induce a Soviet military intervention." This goes on an on, proudly proclaiming how the criminal actions of two super powers wrecked and killed millions.

Recently released documents also show that some bloody handed dictators, like Iraq's Saddam Hussein, Indonesia's Suharto, and even the now disfavored Taliban have been put into power , supported and supplied with arms in the killings of millions by the governments of the USA and Britain.

The new purpose of this cruel game is the control of the world's largest untapped oil reserves in the Caucasus-Kazakhstan regions. This means pipelines which are planned to run to the Turkish port of Ceyhan on the Mediterranean coast, across Bulgaria, Kosovo and Albania to the Adriatic Sea and across Afghanistan and Pakistan to the Indian Ocean.

Incidentally, there was no genocide in Kosovo except in the propaganda published in our papers. No mass graves were ever found by independent medical teams. The bombing of Yugoslavia was for the purpose of wrecking their infrastructure, to get rid of Milosevic and to divide the Balkans along the 40th Parallel between the NATO powers.

In the case of Afghanistan the Taliban originally gave their permission for an $8. billion oil and gas pipeline and were considered good guys, regardless of their macabre and filthy habits. They became enemies when they withdrew the permission. This sealed their fate. Former Pakistani Foreign Secretary Niaz Naik told the BBC's George Arney that he was informed by high ranking US diplomats already last July that Afghanistan would be invaded in October, before the snows made it impossible.

For conclusion I am enclosing a letter by a Pakistani friend that shows the real impact the actions of fanatics and globalizers have on humanity.

Dear Friends,

Following are but a few stories from today's papers here in Pakistan on the fallout of the New York Tragedy. Osama Bin Laden is to be caught even if he is not the one responsible this time around! The situation does not augur well for Pakistan and Pakistanis. We have lived terrified lives because Americans created the Hell that is Afghanistan today. It has been 21 years living next door to a full-scale war. We have received millions of refugees, the social and political result of the state run at the behest of CIA has made life difficult and insecure for average Pakistanis.

The American tragedy is great. We sympathize, condole and extend our love to the bereaved families. But let us remind that Pakistan has also faced great tragedies --in lives lost, property destroyed and economic costs-- simply because Americans engaged with the Russians in Afghanistan for their last fight unto death. America won the victory. What did Pakistan get?

In 1988 an ammunition depot full of US arms for Afghan fighters in the heart of Rawalpindi city exploded showering the city and its dwellers with bombs, rockets and missiles! Thousands died. It was said CIA was to take stock of the depot and the corrupt CIA partners in the covert agencies blew up the very place! It has been a matter of open speculation with people in Pakistan that CIA then killed General Zia-ul-Haque for stepping beyond the bounds!!!

We have suffered. We continue to do so in ways too numerous to detail here.

It looks like the suffering is not going to end any time soon.

Regards.
