Fiat Lux

The agony of the USA's Presidential election farce seems to be over, at least for the time being, yet still nobody knows who really won? The one thing certain is that it wasn't Dubya Bush. He was simply appointed to be President by the kingmakers and string pullers from behind the scenes, to ensure the continued profitability of donor corporations and democracy be damned.

General Colin Powell, the newly appointed Secretary of State was shown on TV making a speech about turning the world into a globalized market economy based democracy. Well, the general may have been great sending his soldiers into areas made radioactive by depleted uranium anti tank ammunition during the Gulf War, but he may not have such an easy time with the civilian population of his own country, let alone the whole world. Come to think of it, the lawsuits over his soldiers dying from the radiation they picked up will also come back to haunt him, sooner or later.

Somebody should remind General Powell, - it's no use reminding President elect Bush, as he's out of it even before he started, - of the following little secrets a military man may have difficulty absorbing: His President wasn't elected by democratic means. And, there is no such thing as market economy anywhere on a large scale. What we have are corporate planning economies very similar to the Soviet politburo system, mostly controlled from the USA.

The purpose of globalization is not to create, but to erase democracy and for all practical purposes there isn't a single democratic country left on Earth. Especially under the yokes of the IMF, WTO and NAFTA. All of them designed to cut down the decision making powers of elected governments and replace them with the subservience to the profit demands of multinationals.

The January 20th inauguration in Washington DC is building up to an unprecedented explosion of anger and frustration by the real people of America, who have been left behind by this bubble economy's phony wealth creation. Then there are the hundreds of thousands of African Americans whose voting rights have been trampled upon by the saviours of the corporate agenda. There were 100,000 demonstrating against Richard Nixon's second inauguration in 1973, but now the sources of the Washington Post and the city police predict 750,000 against Bush. More than ten times the number involved in the Battle of Seattle.

This is only the beginning. A large number of lawsuits have also been, or are in the planning stages to be filed against various State and local authorities and police forces for preventing people from voting and alleged fraudulent actions to deliver the desired results. There's also talk about the possibility of the impeachment of Mr. Bush, even before taking office. The charges are again fraud, etc. etc.

When we look at the now gradually emerging, behind the scenes, filth and corruption of American politics we can't help wondering how long this can go on, and why the people are not rising against these crooked manipulators and whether the system is repairable at all without a total collapse?

Politicians are permitted to pocket left over campaign funds. The health service companies donated $30. million to the campaign funds to prevent the introduction of any form of medicare. Meanwhile 45 million Americans have no health insurance and if they get sick they lose everything they own. Major donors and company execs are invited to dine and to sleep at the White House and fly in Air Force One.

In 1987 there were no Ecoli poisonings in the USA. Now there are 20,000 per year and 9,000 die. Meanwhile the food industry donated $41 million to prevent the introduction of stronger inspection and safety laws. Lawmakers, both at the national and State levels who vote against public safety laws and for deregulations and genetically modified foods are given high corporate executive positions when they leave politics. Some even work for the companies while still in office.

The newly appointed Secretary of Agriculture, Ann Veneman, was a director of the Calgene Corp., the developers of genetically altered tomatoes, later bought up by Monsanto. She's a firm believer in the genetic modification of seeds and foods against the daily mounting evidence of their harmful effects to humans, animals, and the survival of the Earth's formerly balanced ecology. The US and it's satellite Tony Blair of Britain are determined to ram genetically mucked about poisons on the world to keep their biotech industries profitable, regardless who gets hurt.

As far our boy Dubya Bush is concerned, four of the Supreme Court justices who voted against the recount of the Florida ballots have been appointed by Bush Senior. Two of the judges, Rhenquist and Scalia, allegedly have sons working at law firms representing Bush interests. In 1942 the US Congress seized the Bush family's banking assets on charges of "trading with the enemy," who happened to be Hitler's Germany. The family is also heavily involved with extremist organizations, like the Pioneer Fund that advocate eugenics and consider certain races inferior, the Manhattan Institute, basically a propaganda outfit for big business and so on and on.

Dubya himself is an alleged drug user and alcoholic and mentally not the brightest light in the chandelier, who, like his illustrious predecessor Ronald Reagan, must memorize scripts prepared for him. His staff is always on alert to prevent his speaking off the cuff without putting both his feet in his mouth.
Well, the 21st Century started on the 1st of January and it looks that it is going to be an interesting one.
