This is Clausing 8550 horizontal mill, pretty much identical to the 8540 on another page, except that the 8550 didn't include a power feed on the longitudinal axis. The feed took power off a linkage to the spindle gear box. It came from a local small machine shop owner that dabbles in used tools on the side and appears to be in somewhat better shape than my 8540.
My long overdue plan is to combine the best parts from the 8540 and 8550 to make one good 8540 mill. Maybe this year during my year-end vacation.
Here it sits in the garage waiting to get moved to the basement.
