Clausing 8520 Knee Mill
|
|
This mill was purchased from the original owner, who was a professional machinist and foreman in a machine shop. He bought it for home use, but didn't seem to have used it much as he found it more convenient to use the Bridgeports that were available to him at work. Other than some staining and chips embedded in congealed lube on the chip pan it was in excellent shape and included a Kurt 3" vise with swivel base, full set of MT2 collets, a couple of drill chucks, and several endmills. At $2300 it wasn't cheap, but is still one of my most satisfactory tool purchases. This one is serial number 005664 and was fabricated by Clausing in 1966 and tested on March 18, 1966. I've had it about 5 years now and have added a Servo 140 power feed and CBX Shooting Star 3-axis DRO to it, both of which have proven to be valuable additions. The links at left will take you to pages that show the Servo 140 Power Feed and Shooting Star DRO installed on it, as well as the original Test Report for it. |
