Clausing 5914 Lathe

This lathe was purchased in May, 2005 from a local machine shop.  It included a lever-type 5C collet setup with some collets, a standard tailstock, a bed turret, a standard cross slide, a screw-fed production cross slide and turret tooling, but not much else in the way of the more standard tooling like 3-jaw and 4-jaw chucks.

The lathe at the seller's shop.

Delivery and unloading - a local rigger picked it up and delivered for $200 with the understanding that I would make myself available to accept delivery whenever they had another delivery in my area.  They wanted another $900 to move it to the basement shop.  That was over my budget, so the lathe was disassembled into components, moved in pieces to the basement with a refrigerator dolly and re-assembled.

The lathe torn down to the bed in the garage, the path from the garage to the basement,  and the lathe partially re-assembled in the basement.

The lathe as it is exists today (October 2005).  A significant amount of tooling has been added, including 3-jaw and 4-jaw chucks, steady/follower rests, Trav-a-dial on the longitudinal axis, Jacobs Rubberflex and Burnerd collet chucks, faceplates, Aloris quick change tool post and holders and a bunch of other stuff.

Some photos of the Trav-a-dial installed on the lathe and the mounting bracket made of plate aluminum for it.
