The Story of "Mini-Me"

Everyone should have their own "mini-me," and in a perfect world, everyone would. The big problem for most people is finding a base figure that looks enough like you to serve as a starting point.

I was lucky. Curiously, the base figure I found to use is based on a real person. Not only that, but like myself, this person's name is best known for appearing on book covers. The figure is BBi's Richard Marcinko, of "Rogue Warrior" fame. To be honest, I don't think I look that much like Mr. Marcinko, though it's possible he's my evil twin (or more possibly, I'm his). Fortunately, I think I do look quite a bit like his action figure, as you can see below.

Rogue Steve

Okay, I confess, that isn't my real face. That's the face I keep around to scare small children, and those people who talk during the movie. In real life, I wear glasses and am a very easy-going guy. (Also, unlike Mr. Marcinko, I can't kill a man with a bent paper-clip.) Remember though, I said this was the base figure.

Mini-me meets Maxi-me

Okay, this is more like it. The glasses were a little gift from Tim Kano who makes them himself. The shoes are Hasbro. The rest of the outfit is (I think) an odd-lot of Dragon and BBi items designed to represent a fairly typical Steve outfit. The Marcinko figure came with black gloves. Since this picture was taken, I've replaced those hands with a set of ungloved ones. Though they aren't seen here, Mini-me even has a set of accessories: a Hasbro Ernie Pyle typewriter, a laptop computer, and tiny versions of my first two novels.

The Mini-Me-Mobile!

Mini-me now even has his own vehicle, a Barbie New Beetle that matches our own 1:1 model. (I could explain to you why the Beetle was photographed in the freezer section of our fridge, but it's a long story and really not very relevant.)
